These islands were built up from coral reefs and when rain falls, it percolates coral deposits and picks up minerals and other elements that make it truly unique. This water contained many essential minerals that are chemically similar to the elements found in the human skeleton, body fluids and blood. It was also very alkaline, with a pH of 8.6.
